In Real Time: Therapist Edition

12 Week Online Experiential Interpersonal Process Group for Therapists

Designed for therapists and therapist trainees ready to explore self as therapist through experiential, live relational process.

This is not supervision.

It is not consultation.

It is not about fixing your clients.

This group is a space to turn toward what happens inside you in the work:

  • What gets activated or avoided
  • What pulls you closer or makes you withdraw
  • What leaves you overfunctioning, flooded, or shut down
  • What has you rescuing, intellectualizing, or working harder than the client

Transference. Countertransference. Attachment. Immediacy.

This group is an opportunity to look honestly at what gets activated in the room, what we bring into our clinical work whether we mean to or not, and what it means to stay present as a full human being in the role of therapist.

This group is for you if you:

  • Notice reactions to clients that you don’t fully understand
  • Find yourself thinking about certain clients long after sessions end
  • Feel emotionally pulled, responsible, avoidant, protective, irritated, helpless, overly invested, or shut down in ways that feel important
  • Want to understand what your countertransference may be communicating
  • Tend to intellectualize when emotional intensity increases
  • Want to develop greater capacity to stay emotionally present under pressure
  • Are interested in learning through live interpersonal process rather than theory alone
  • Want a space that centers your experience, not just your clinical work

Many important relational patterns do not fully reveal themselves in reflection alone. They emerge in real relationship: in closeness, misunderstanding, comparison, vulnerability, conflict, longing, shame and the tension between authenticity and self-protection.

Experiential group process makes these dynamics visible in real time, offering the opportunity to observe and engage them as they unfold between people.

Through the group process, you will have opportunities to:

  • Notice your relational patterns as they emerge in real time
  • Practice naming your internal experience with others
  • Explore what happens in moments of closeness, conflict, vulnerability, silence, uncertainty, or misunderstanding
  • Increase your tolerance for emotional intensity without immediately withdrawing, pleasing, fixing, intellectualizing or shutting down
  • Develop greater awareness of yourself as an instrument of the work
  • Deepen your capacity for authentic therapeutic presence

How it works:

This is a closed 12-week group. The same members meet each week, allowing enough consistency and safety for deeper interpersonal work to emerge over time.

Group size is intentionally small (6–8 members) to support meaningful engagement and relational depth.

An individual screening session is required prior to joining. Once the group is formed, you will receive an information package with details about structure, expectations, confidentiality and participation.

If enough interest exists at the end of the 12 weeks, the group may continue by mutual agreement.

Details:

  • 6–8 members
  • 90 minutes a week for 12 weeks via Zoom
  • $75 per session
  • 12 session commitment
  • Individual screening session required prior to starting

Awkward is welcome. Pefrection is not.
